Sesshū, ‘Winter landscape’

Researching the early fifteenth century Japanese painter Sesshū, this winter scene offers drama in the diagonally painted brush strokes. Whereas the Chinese artists more often created works from their impressions of nature, Japanese artists are starting to observe specific landscapes.
