Artefacts shadows, space and time

Fascinated by the cultural change artefacts under go as they are curated and taken into a collection. With them they bring all their narratives and whispered histories. A question often raised in museums is; When does an object become ‘reactivated’? When does it move spheres between the observed aesthetic, a passive state, to the ‘active’ physical temporal world? Is it through being touched? Is it when it is used in it’s original intended function? (N.b Where does that leave the fine arts?) So when is a pipe not a pipe? Or rather when can a pipe become a pipe?

These shadows were my (attempts!) to capture both the solid yet ephemeral polemics of museum objects.
